PortfolioMetrix was founded in 2010 on the principle that portfolios need to be constructed on needs, not wealth. We recognise the potential in partnerships, and the value of integrating the specialisations of investment management and independent financial advice.

We pioneered the use of proprietary built technology to give advisers the ability to customise client portfolios on a fully scalable basis. Our goal is to create a robust link between the professional adviser and client outcomes. Our proposition produces precision-engineered portfolios that reliably meet expectations.

Our investment proposition hinges on thorough asset allocation theory and practical, pragmatic implementation. We believe that markets are good at pricing risk but argue that they are not fully efficient in this regard. While our processes have evolved over time, our investment DNA has not deviated from a few key principles:

• Intelligent, academic research in combination with sound judgement, to seek out investment opportunities while avoiding uncompensated risks.
• Avoiding concentration risks by carefully diversifying across countries, currencies, sectors, securities, and other specialist managers.

Our Asset Management team is split between London and Johannesburg but operate as one cohesive global investment unit.

The firm has evolved and grown over time; however, we remain owner managed and fiercely independent across all jurisdictions that we operate in.
